Key Vote NO on the American Jobs Act of 2011

Dear FreedomWorks member, As one of our million-plus FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to contact your senator and ask him or her to vote NO on S. 1660, the American Jobs Act of 2011. Introduced by Sen. Harry Reid (R-Nev.), the bill would spend billions of dollars on infrastructure projects, raise income taxes and extend unemployment benefits. The so-called jobs plan which was proposed by President Obama will inevitably fail to stimulate the economy. The American Jobs Act of 2011 will crush jobs, increase our national debt and raise taxes on small business owners.

Occupy Wall St. and the Tea Party: A Tale of Two Protests

For all their contrived displays of independence and non-conformism, the Occupy Wall St. protesters can’t even properly be called original. For one thing, Communism, their preferred ideology, was thoroughly discredited more than two decades ago, while most of the occupiers were still in diapers. For another, virtually their entire list of grievances against crony capitalism and bank bailouts has been plagiarized straight from the tea party’s platform, which is now nearly three years old.

Herman Cain's "999 Plan": The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

So what about Herman Cain's 999 tax plan? Turns out it has some very good aspects -- and some others, not so good. I'd give it two rousing cheers and one bronx cheer. The plan is called "9, 9, 9" because it would replace today's complicated and economically burdensome federal tax code with a simple, three-part system, consisting of a 9% flat tax on individuals, a 9% flat tax on businesses, and a 9% national retail sales tax.* That's it.**

Political Shenanigans and Deceit

Moral and Legal Authority Convinced that the people are the only safe depositories of their own liberty, and that they are not safe unless enlightened to a certain degree, I have looked on our present state of liberty as a short-lived possession unless the mass of the people could be informed to a certain degree. --Thomas Jefferson to Littleton Waller Tazewell, 1805.
