North Carolina FreedomWorks Applauds the Expansion of Charter Schools

Raleigh, NC- Last week, FreedomWorks activists across the state of North Carolina celebrated the passage of Senate Bill 5, which increases educational choices for parents and children by removing an arbitrary cap of 100 charter schools in the Tar Heel state. Pending the signature of Governor Beverly Perdue, who is expected to sign the bill, North Carolina will join 14 other states that have abolished anti-competitive charter school caps.

Obama's Shovel-Ready Fallacies

President Obama, speaking at a Chrysler plant in Toledo, attempted to highlight the successes of his bailout bonanza of the American auto-industry.  “This plant directly supports hundreds of jobs right here in Toledo.  After all, without you, who’d eat at Chet’s or Inky’s or Rudy’s?” A few days later Chet’s closed up shop and went of business.  Ouch.  Presumably, the president would surmise that the diner’s demise was a “bump in the road” on the way to recovery.

The Obvious Solution

Election campaigns are firing up and the budget and debt ceiling debates continue to gain steam as the political world grinds along.  Every day I'm convinced I've heard all possible explanations for why the economy is how it is.  And every day I'm proven wrong. I recently sent an email to my senator, Kay Hagan, expressing my dismay over the Senate’s inability to pass a budget.  I received a response two weeks later (no not a hand written letter, but a generic, automated, electronic response).  She stressed her concern for the debt and assured me her colleagu

Opt Out of Entitlement Programs

Entitlement programs are on the fast track to bankruptcy. Social Security and Medicare—the nation’s two largest entitlement programs—will run out of funds sooner than previously expected. Social Security faces a $45 billion deficit this year and Medicare’s trust fund for hospital insurance will completely run out of funds by 2024.

'Net Neutrality' Did you mean: Net Cartel

Benjamin Franklin once said, “Anyone who trades liberty for security deserves neither liberty nor security.”  Those who favor the Net Cartel creating legislation known as “net neutrality,” like Google, MoveOn.org and high-tech lobbyists, seek to trade our economic liberties all in the name of security.  The companies that support this legislation want to get their hands on the broadband technologies already offered by other com

No Debt Ceiling Hike Without a Balanced Budget Amendment!

The bipartisan debt ceiling talks are likely to produce a bad deal. The rumored agreement between President Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), and House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) would entail roughly $2.5 trillion in promised spending cut

Obama’s Policies (Not ATMs) to Blame for High Unemployment

President Obama may have proven that he is even more clueless about economics than previously thought. On NBC News, he claimed that his misguided Keynesian policies had nothing to do with companies’ unwillingness to hire new employees. He instead placed the blame for high unemployment on machines. He said that:

The Light Bulb Resistance Movement

America’s wild wild west has always been home to cowboys, adventurers, hardened frontiersmen, and red-blooded, independent Americans. In the face of excessive government regulation, Texans have revived their independent streak and passed HR 2510. The bill  returns commonsense to the world of light bulbs, despite establishment opposition.
