GOP adopts 11.5 of 12 bold policy proposals chosen by grassroots activists Washington, DC- August 21, 2012 – FreedomWorks, a grassroots service center serving more than 2 million members of the conservative movement, today announced that the Republican Platform Committee has adopted 11.5 of the 12 proposals outlined in the “Freedom Platform,” the grassroots conservative platform released earlier this month by FreedomWorks-supported activists.

First Principles: The Tea Party Focuses GOP Platform on Limited Government

When the Tea Party emerged on the national scene in early 2009, pundits, politicos and the entrenched party establishment questioned whether or not these newly engaged activists would have a lasting affect on the political process.    So, much like we did with our "Tea Party Debt Commission", we went to our over 1.8 million activists and supporters to find out what direction they wanted the GOP to head.  What was important to them when it came to the future of the Republican Party?

More Promise for School Choice Expansion in Florida

Things are looking good for a possible expansion of school choice in Florida. In House and Senate primary races, more than twenty candidates who support school choice won their nominations. These candidates, from across the political spectrum, will be giving Florida parents greater options in educating their children.

Senate Republicans Push for Internet Sales Taxes

Despite their lip service to cutting taxes, a handful of Republican senators are pushing for a sales tax on Internet purchases. Senator Mike Enzi of Wyoming has introduced the so-called Marketplace Fairness Act that would create a new national online tax that would take away more of our money and freedom. The Republican cosponsors of S. 1832 are Sens. Lamar Alexander, Roy Blunt, John Boozman, and Bob Corker. These Internet sales tax schemes are nothing new but greedy politicians seem more determined than ever to pass it this year.

America's Great Leap Forward

I just finished a book on China's Great Leap Forward written during the 1950s. The book shook me to the core with images of starvation, brutality, and suffering. The reason China experienced this pain was the idea that the government could move the country "Forward" using redistribution and central planning methods.

Back In Chains

The despicable class warfare strategy settled on by the Obama campaign is sinking lower and lower, dragging the reputation of the Presidency with it. Having humorously accused Romney of the universal practice of minimizing the amount he pays in taxes or not paying any at all, of killing jobs and even killing a woman, the widely discredited assault on common sense continues apace.

Department of Energy- 'Green' Loan Failure

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act was passed by Congress on February 13, 2009 and signed into law by President Obama just days later. The Act had three main objectives: to create jobs, spark economic activity for long-term investment and growth, and establish greater accountability and transparency in government spending. Yet three and half years and $787 billion dollars later Americans are still waiting for those goals to become reality.

Cap and Trade May Not Be Dead

The U.S House Committee on Environment and Public Works met for the first time in three years yesterday to discuss the issue of global warming. Global warming has lost its steam with Americans, with many of them no longer trusting what the scientist are even saying now.
