Key Vote NO on Cybersecurity Act of 2012

Dear FreedomWorks member, As one of our million-plus members nationwide, I urge you to contact your senators and urge them to vote NO on S. 3414, the Cybersecurity Act of 2012. Introduced by Sens. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) and Susan Collin (R-ME), the supposed intention of the bill is to prevent cyber attacks. While reducing the threat of cyber terrorism is a worthy goal, the bill in its current state is deeply flawed and would stifle innovation on the Internet.

HSA Enrollment & Fiscal Responsibility Are Trending

When liberals try to fix the American health care system, they focus on all the wrong things. ObamaCare took the approach of covering the many uninsured, and forced all Americans to purchase health insurance they may not want or need. But the problem in America isn’t lack of health insurance, it’s the skyrocketing costs of health care.

A Follow Up On My Debate With My Liberal Relative

Yesterday, I blogged about the opportunity my liberal relative gave me to explain why those on public assistance should vote for conservatives in the 2012 election (you can see the post here). As you might imagine, this Facebook argument raged on (respectfully so, I must say) for most of the day and deep into the night.A couple of points came up in the discussion that I thought would be instructive to address.

An International Freedom Fighter: Yuya Watase

Between the packed stadium, the roar of 15,000 freedom-loving Americans, and a line-up of passionate, conservative speakers, FreePAC sent a loud message to all who would listen: the Tea Party is not dead! In fact, the pro-liberty movement is so popular that it’s spread beyond America to countries around the world. At FreePAC, FreedomWorks hosted 30 international activists to participate in grassroots training, networking, and brainstorming about how to spread the message of limited government, lower taxes, and liberty in their own countries.

It’s the Politicians, Stupid: Governing Elites have Failed

Democracy and Power 106:  A politician receives no financial gain for good policy or punishment for bad policy. It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong. – Thomas Sowell

Limiting Government Through the Culture War

The speeches at FreePAC in Dallas July 26 will have a lasting impact on the movement for limited government. Each was inspirational and important, but one stands out among the others for the insight that political victories are a result of cultural change. The only way to limit government is with a limiting culture. You can watch the rest of the amazing FreePAC speeches from the links below:

Why We Fight For Freedom And Liberty For All, Not Just For Conservatives

I was recently challenged to a Facebook debate with the following question by a liberal relative:

Senate Republicans Who Have NOT Cosponsored Audit the Fed Bill

With Ron Paul’s Federal Reserve Transparency Act overwhelmingly passing the House last week, the fight moves on to the Senate. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has introduced an identical bill, S. 202, in the Senate. According to the Library of Congress’ THOMAS website, the legislation currently has 23 (edit: now 27) cosponsors.

FreePAC: Bloggers and New Media are the Voice of the Freedom Movement

This past weekend as over 16,000 freedom loving activists gathered in Dallas for FreePAC, the main stream media chose once again to largely ignore the Tea Party event and its supporters. Much like 2009, when media outlets ignored over one million activists gathered on the Capitol Mall, coverage of this event was ultimately left to alternative media instead. This is not surprising to many of us who have been active in this movement since its inception. If they don't report it, it didn't happen. I mean the Tea Party is dead, right?
