Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party

On this day in 1773, American colonists rose up against the oppression of British rule in an anti-tax protest we know today as the Boston Tea Party. Dressed as Native Americans these patriots stormed a British merchant ship and dumped tea into Boston Harbor, setting in motion a chain of events which would eventually lead to the American Revolution.

Key Vote No: H.R. 3082 Full Year Continuing Appropriation Act 2011 and "Omnibus" Substitute

Dear Senator, On behalf of over one million FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to vote no on H.R. 3082, which as currently formulated would fund the government for the next ten months at current 2010 levels. With Congress failing to pass any of the required 12 annual appropriation bills, leaders have opted to put forth a massive $1.1 trillion continuing resolution that includes a number of costly provisions. If the proposed “omnibus” spending bill is introduced as a substitute for the continuing resolution, we also encourage you to vote against that.

Nightmare Before Christmas: FreedomWorks Fights Against the “Omnibus” Spending Bill

WASHINGTON, DC- With only a few days left until Christmas, Senate Democrats are planning to sneak a pork-filled “omnibus” spending bill through Congress, dumping over 1 trillion dollars’ worth of backroom bargaining into the stockings of American taxpayers. The bill is almost 2,000 pages long, and estimated to cost taxpayers about $575.13 million per page. Despite the sweeping rejection of big-government in the 2010 midterm elections, Democrats have once again proved themselves out of touch with the majority of the American people.

Want To Pay Less In Taxes?

It's the end of the year, and wise investors are considering moves to reduce their tax liability for 2010. Because I think the Holiday Season is an appropriate time to be generous to the charitable causes we hold most dear, I often recommend a tax-deductible holiday gift to a favorite organization. With that in mind, would you consider such a holiday gift to FreedomWorks Foundation?

Cesspool of Crony Capitalism

A Predictable and Stable Legal Order A government with moral and legal authority promulgates written rules and universally, impartially and uniformly enforces the rules, which provides a predictable and stable legal order on which to base economic and personal decisions.  The law prevails, not the proclamation or arbitrary decision of a ruler, government bureaucrat, the enforcer (e.g., policeman) or judge.

FreedomWorks Salutes Virginia Court Decision Declaring Obamacare Unconstitutional

WASHINGTON, DC- Today, FreedomWorks celebrated a huge victory in the limited government movement after Virginia federal judge Henry Hudson ruled the Obamacare mandate on all Americans to purchase health insurance to be unconstitutional. In finding that the law’s individual mandate “exceeds the constitutional boundaries of congressional power," Judge Henry Hudson’s decision strikes a blow on behalf of limited government and common sense.

Virginia Judge: Obamacare is Unconstitutional

U.S. District Judge Henry Hudson struck down the individual mandate of Obama's health care law today, finding the measure which requires citizens to purchase health care by 2014 to be unconstitutional. This is a big early victory in a long fight which will now move to federal appeals court and will likely be finally decided by the Supreme Court.

Representative Ron Paul (R-TX) who has been a leading critic of the Federal Reserve for decades will lead the Monetary Policy Subcommittee. In other words, the author of the book “End the Fed” will be overseeing the central bank. Look out Fed chairman Ben Bernanke.
