In an exclusive interview with Melissa Clouthier, Leader Armey discusses his statements at Monday's National Press Club meeting and encourages Americans to keep up the fight against ObamaCare.
House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio), just announced that the Democrats have endorsed the Slaughter Solution Vote. The opposition to this scheme was bipartisan as 28 Democratic Representatives (Adler, Arcuri, Boren, Bright, Carney, Childers, Cooper, Costello, Dahlkemper, Davis (Ala), Giffords, Hereseth-Sandlin, Holden, Kosmos, Kratovil, Lipinski, McIntyre, McNerney, Melancon, Michaud, Minnick, Mitchell, Nye, Perriello, Shuler, Stupak, Taylor, Teague) joined with the Republicans
The recently proposed “Slaughter Rule” specifies that the House can pass a Senate bill as well as a bill amending it, with one vote. The Senate then votes only on the amendatory bill relayed from the House. After this process, the bill is declared as passed. However, this means that the House and the Senate wouldn’t have passed the same bill, which as critics are beginning to point out, is a legislative requirement, as stipulated in the Constitution.
By best accounts, over 5,000 activists from around the country stormed the Hill this morning to visit their representatives and urge them to vote No on ObamaCare. I know that many others who couldn't make the trip to DC yet again were with us in spirit and have been making phone calls, writing letters, and sending emails.
Florida’s property insurance market is currently in disarray, the product of over-regulation that has hampered competition. With the imminent threat of hurricane season, the Florida state legislature is once again considering the issue of insurance reform; hopefully it will take the opportunity to revitalize Florida’s fiscally vulnerable insurance market.
By now you should have heard all about the People's Surge Against ObamaCare 2.0 on March 16. If not, go here to get caught up. Tuesday looks like it will be a nice 64 degrees and partly cloudy, great protesting weather. Bring yourself, a friend or five, and comfortable walking shoes - we have alot of ground to cover.
Contact: Adam Brandon, 202.942.7698 FreedomWorks applauds the efforts of the House Republican Conference to control spending through an immediate unilateral earmark moratorium. This is an important step that will tame our escalating federal deficit while building back the trust of American taxpayers.
Just a bit ago, I wrote that we broke 95,000 - that number has been left in the dust as the No Reconciliation petition has garnered over 100,000 signers!
I personally applaud the House Republican Conference for passing a moratorium against out-of-control earmarks. The powerful Tea Party movement has shown that taxpayers are frustrated with the reckless way Washington is spending their hard-earned money.
