Internet Tax Moratorium to Expire

Kristina Rasmussen of NTU wrote a good piece on the internet tax moratorium and how not allowing it to expire has led to some reaching across partisan lines. The moratorium which was instituted in 1998 and renewed in 2001 and 2004, has kept taxpayers free from any new taxes on email and internet access services. Unfortunately, this moratorium is set to expire in November and their are some in Congress that would not mind seeing this moratorium quietly die. An expiration of this moratorium could mean a future of internet access fees on your bill as well as fees on the emails you send.

Key Vote "No" S. 3036: the Lieberman-Warner "Climate Security Act"

On behalf of hundreds of thousands of FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to vote “No” on S. 3036, the Lieberman-Warner “Climate Security Act.” The Act, which proposes to curb greenhouse gases, would significantly hamstring the economy of the United States by burdening taxpayers and risking thousands of jobs as our global competitiveness vanishes under a flood of regulations, taxes, and higher costs.

Save the Polar Bears!

Greenpeace's "Project Thin Ice" seeks to save the polar bears "because the sea ice the bears depend on to hunt is melting." The webpage includes a pledge for all the good little socialists to see Al Gore's hit comedy "An Inconvenient Truth." Inconveniently for Greenpeace, the Competitive Enterprise Institute's Marlo Lewis, Jr, in his Congressional Briefing Paper "Al Gore's Science Fiction," has taken the time to research Gore's research, and expose the one-sided or misleading statements, exaggerations, speculations, and just plain w

Boutique Gas Prevents Competition

Time.com has an interesting article on 'boutique gas'. This reduces the competitiveness of the gas market by breaking the national market into many smaller markets that each have their own barriers to entry.

Ten Questions with Tom Tancredo

Presidential candidate and anti-immigration enthusiast Tom Tancredo (R-CO) fields ten questions from people across the country for an article by TIME magazine. While the focus of the questions are on our illegal immigration problem, he does field a question on global warming.
