Florida Grassroots Groups Outraged at Proposed Compromise Tax Legislation

< p> Florida’s largest and best-organized grassroots citizens groups are expressing their outrage at the recently announced tax legislation currently under consideration by the Florida Legislature.  < p class="MsoNormal">“The proposed legislation does not capture the hopes or wishes of millions of Florida taxpayers who have been promised meaningful and comprehensive tax reform and relief.  Our elected Legislative leadership and the Governor have promised taxpayers that taxes would ‘drop like a rock’… the proposed ‘rock’ didn’t drop far

Action plan on climate is all wet

BY David Harsanyi

The goal is clear. To fight global warming, Mayor John Hickenlooper would like Denver to reduce carbon-dioxide emissions by 4.4 million metric tons by the year 2020 - comparable to eliminating about a half a million cars. The first step in achieving this objective was laid out in Denver's Climate Action Plan two weeks ago. And according to folks in the mayor's office, it experienced significant blowback after Matt Drudge ran a link on his website revealing some of its more radical elements.

Denver's Illogical Climate Action Plan

The Denver Post has a great op-ed today about Denver mayor John Hickenlooper's "Climate Action Plan" which seeks to reduce CO2 emissions. This intrusive proposal infringes on the privacy rights of the citizens of Denver by penalizing them for the 'excessive use' of natural gas and electricity. Columnist David Harsanyi points out the obvious flaws to this plan:

$20 Million Cell Phone Bill

In 2005 alone the Department of Defense spent $20 million dollars on cell phones! Because the money was in an earmark it was not competitively bid on. Qualcomm, a San Diego company, got the $20 million for their CDMA cell phones. Recently Qualcomm chips were banned from all new US cell phones. Executives at Qualcomm have also donated over $29,000 to Senator Dianne Feinstein's campaign.

Key Vote YES on the Gas Price Act of 2007

On behalf of nearly 850,000 FreedomWorks members nationwide, I respectfully urge you to VOTE YES on the Gas Petroleum Refiner Improvement and Community Empowerment Act of 2007, or the Gas Price Act, Senator James Inhofe’s (R-OK) amendment to the energy bill currently before the Senate. This amendment would help stem the rise of gas prices by pushing for energy independence through an increase in domestic refinery capacity. This amendment would encourage more domestic oil production by easing the regulatory permitting process for the expansion of present refineries as well as the construction of new facilities. In addition, it would spur broader capacity and efficiency by reducing environmental permit hurdles and encouraging construction on closed military bases.

Dems on Health Care

This is a clip from the most recent Democratic debate where the candidates discuss health care. All the candidates seem to favor some form of a socialized universal plan. John Edwards does not hide the fact that he plans to raise taxes, admitting he'd have to because his plan costs $90-100 billion. Hillary Clinton even admits that every candidate on the stage is similar in that they will get rid of the Bush tax cuts to fund their respective plans. see for yourself
