FreedomWorks Launches Ad Campaign to Urge Senator McConnell to Lead Effort Against Mortgage Bailout

FreedomWorks’ ongoing effort to alert American taxpayers of the risky and unfair housing bailout bill now moving in the Senate expands today with a print and radio ad campaign running throughout Kentucky. The ads [LISTEN HERE] call upon Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to take the lead in stopping the $300 billion bailout that rewards reckless homeowners and irresponsible mortgage lenders. As an excerpt from the radio ad explains:

Taxpayer Group Launches Campaign Against Loan Bailouts

BY Kerri Panchuk

FreedomWorks, a nonprofit that advocates for the rights of taxpayers, continues its protest of both a Senate and House Bill that propose an additional $300 billion in funding to help distressed borrowers. FreedomWorks this week announced the launch of a print and radio ad campaign in Kentucky, which includes a request asking U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) to take a lead in stopping the movement of the Senate’s version of the foreclosure prevention bill.

Group says petition sponsors defy signature gathering ban

BY Ed Walsh

In the latest skirmish in the war over Oregon's initiative system, a liberal group has accused the sponsors to two citizens' initiatives of violating state law by defying a ban on gathering signatures until the sponsors comply with a state record-keeping requirement. Our Oregon, largely funded by organized labor, has filed a formal complaint against the sponsors with the state Elections Division, which has opened an investigation.

Green is the New Red

BY Andrew Roth

The Club for Growth recently created an email list for conservative groups to coordinate their efforts on policy matters. One of those policies is the tax-hiking, over-regulating, lobbyist-loving, Al Gore-ring-kissing Lieberman-Warner Climate bill currently being debated on in the Senate. It's basically the Kyoto Treaty on steroids.

Initiative Wars Heating Up Again in Oregon

BY Julia Silverman

Conservative activists pushing two anti-lawyer initiatives for the 2008 ballot are violating state elections regulations, a union-backed group has charged. The conflict is virtually guaranteed to wind up in federal court, even as elections officials prepare for a November 2008 ballot that could be crowded with perhaps a dozen initiative and referendum proposals.

No Savings Here

Cable a la carte is an older issue, but, thanks to folks like Kevin Martin and the PTC, it keeps popping up.  And guess what: A la carte advocates, who seem to think that there are cost savings to unbundling cable packages, still don't seem to know what they're talking about.  Not only is the idea a silly one -- why can't people just change the channel if they don't like what's going on?

Key Vote "No" S. 3036: the Lieberman-Warner "Climate Security Act"

On behalf of hundreds of thousands of FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to vote “No” on S. 3036, the Lieberman-Warner “Climate Security Act.”  The Act, which proposes to curb greenhouse gases, would significantly hamstring the economy of the United States by burdening taxpayers and risking thousands of jobs as our global competitiveness vanishes under a flood of regulations, taxes, and higher costs.
