Tax Pledge Ten’ Break Promise

Thursday, the North Carolina House voted in favor of a $700 million tax increase that will be financed on the backs of North Carolina’s hardworking families. Sixty-two House members signed a pledge not to raise taxes. Ten of them broke their promise.

Jonathan Hill, director of NC CSE, issued the following statement regarding the broken promise of the legislators:

“T hese legislators made a pledge to the voters of North Carolina. We are going to mobilize our activists throughout the state and we are going to make sure the voters know that these legislators voted for a tax increase.

“NC CSE will not let the legislators or the people of this state forget who broke their promise. The people of North Carolina believe a promise made should be a promise kept, especially when legislators are spending the money of hardworking taxpayers. “
