Campaign to fight socialized medicine

By Brendan Steinhauser on May 22, 2009

FreedomWorks is leading an effort to fight socialized medicine, and we need YOUR help. I've attached the memo from the Senate Finance Committee indicating the various tax ideas that the committee is considering in order to pay for socialized medicine. As you can see, one of their bad ideas is to raise taxes on beverages like sports drinks, soda and alcoholic drinks. Raising taxes during a recession is bad enough, but it's especially terrible when they want to use the money to pay for socialized medicine.

FreedomWorks is kicking off our campaign against socialized medicine by going after the funding mechanisms listed in the Senate Finance committee memo. Be sure to visit our campaign page, which lays out exactly how you can be an active participant in this effort to stop socialized medicine.

Michael Tanner from the Cato Institute has a great piece up on Obamacare:

The American people are right to demand health-care reform. The current system is broken. But taken individually, most of the ideas currently being considered by Congress would make the problems we face even worse. Taken together, they amount to a complete government takeover of the American health-care system. That is not the type of reform most Americans seek.
