City of Burleson Tries to Cancel Tea Party

UPDATE: CITY OF BURLESON RELENTS AND ALLOWS TEA PARTY TO GO ON!!

I just got off the phone with the local organizers of the Burleson Tea Party. They told me that the city's press statement contained false explanations of what happened, but ultimately the local organizers will be able to hold their tea party.  The city manager agreed to cooperate with the tea party planners to ensure that the tea party is safe, and a success. According to organizers, the city manager said that the city "dropped the ball" and that he could not get any work done all day, due to the flood of emails and calls.

This just goes to show you what conservative activists can do with one dose of technology, and one dose of Rules for Radicals. Local organizers are ecstatic about the success, and they wanted me to extend a warm thanks to everyone that emailed and called the city manager, the mayor and the city council. If you live near Burleson, be sure to get there and support them on April 15th!

BREAKING NEWS: The City of Burleson, Texas is trying to shut down a Tax Day Tea Party planned for April 15th!!

According to local organizers, unelected "street supervisor" Ray Gonzales, informed them that he was going to prevent the event from happening.

Mr. Gonzales told organizers that he is on a special events staff, which is under the city manager's office in Burleson. Gonzales explained to one local organizer that the special events staff had decided this protest was "not in the public interest." He is telling organizers that David Wynn, the city manager, is his boss, and could overturn this decision. For the record, the city manager's office told local organizers that they do not need a permit to demonstrate in Burleson, and they are not saying that the organizers need one now.

I will post an update as soon as I get one from the local organizers, but I have been told that Mr. Gonzales is trying to get the Texas Department of Transportation to stop the tea party from happening.

Those who cherish liberty must stand with our friends in Burleson, Texas, and demand that the local government immediately drop all attempts to cancel the Burleson Tea Party.

Call and email them now!!!

I can tell you that the people will show up anyway, but we need to send a message to the city of Burleson, just like we did in Cape Coral, Florida.

Burleson Tea Party

951 SW Wilshire Blvd.
Burleson, Texas 76028 (burlesonteaparty@gmail.com)

UPDATE: The city of Burleson just put out a statement, but the organizers of the tea party say it is not accurate, and that they have not heard from the city. It looks like the city is trying to cover its own tracks to make it look like they never intended to cancel the event.

I have not heard back from the city manager yet, but hopefully he will reply to my letter. I will post whatever the city manager says about this.

I am also hearing that the city is blocking all emails with the phrase "tea party" in the text. This is good intel for those trying to reach the city manager, mayor and city council. This is just one more reason to call, and if they won't respond to calls, perhaps the citizens of Burleson should protest outside city hall until they get their questions answered.
