Two House Health Care Bills

Yesterday, November 3rd, 2009, House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) introduced a 219-page Republican health care bill to be considered alongside HR 3962, the Democrat’s health care overhaul bill.  The Republican bill was submitted as an amendment intended to be a substitute for the entirety of HR 3962.  Additionally, the Manager’s Amendment, revisions to the original text of HR 3962, were released today, November 4th, 2009.  You will find links to both proposals below.

We’d love to post the text of the Senate Health Care Bill that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) gave to the Congressional Budget Office last week for cost estimates, but so far he has refused to make it available to the public as well as his 40 Republican colleagues who requested it in this letter.

The following Representatives from NH Voted for the bill that passed and want to shackle NH as well as American Citizens into health care tax slavery. The bill costs 1,000,000,000,000 and forces individuals to purchase health insurance. That is great news for insurance companies and pharma companies but not good for the individual. My understanding that with the healthcare bill passing, we will have the middle class paying for the bulk of the cost. I am agreement that we, the voters, must have a vote in whether we want this package. Better yet, whatever plan we get, all politicans must have the same. Seriously, we need to replace all senators and representatives and elect ones we, the voters can control. We the voters give each of the canidates a list of what we want accomplished before the vote to elect them. They in turn have the same platform and they sign the contract at the bottom stating they will work on the list, not be swayed by lobbyist, tell us if a lobbyist approachs them, (because that would be a crime unless it would benefit a 100 million people minimum) they would vote the way the majority voted. Any violation or the contract would be considered a felony punishable by 90 days in tent city jail. loss of all benefits/salary/retirement and never be allowed to hold any public office. We need to hold our elected officials to a higher standard. We deserve it. They have committed crimes against the people when they raped and robbed SS, especially Al Gore when he cast the deciding vote durning the Clinton administration allowing the money to be removed form the trust and put into the general fund for congress to spend. This was larceny and he deserves to go to jail along with all those who voted to do the same. I am for private retirement where the government can't touch the funds.

The middle class will only be paying the bulk of the public option if that person elects to be covered by the public option (which currently is restricted to self-employed).

Actually the wealth will be paying higher taxes to subsidize the rest. But the rich right-wingers wont tell you that here.

Also it was Reagan who stole from Social Security, We had a massive surplus until he came along to and raped SS in order to pay down the whopping deficit he created after cutting taxes in half for the wealthy just to try to prove that "trickle down economics" works.

I hope HR 3962 is defeated, as well as Boehner's efforts.

Health care reform legislation plays such a vital role in all of our lives it is inconceivable to me how Congress can possibly arrive at any worth while legislation without full engagement by the public at-large. What is needed, and what has been missing thus far, is full disclosure, full transparency of the legislative process itself. The state of mass communication has developed to such a point today where it is now possible to have this kind of full public access to the entire legislative process. Even allowing for the general public to speak on each provision of the bill through the use of the internet and effective deliberative groupware is now possible. Yet, why hasn't this been done?

I suspect it is because both parties do not have the interests of the general public at heart, but those of the special interests'.

Freedom Works should insist on an open and fully transparent health care legislative process as a prerequisite for supporting any general health care reform legislation.
