Shocking: This Health Care Amendment Was Rejected!

By Max Pappas on Jul 24, 2009

A major concern about the Democrat's health care reform bill is that it will put a bureaucrat between us and our doctors.  There is now a clear vote that says that is indeed the plan.

A very simple amendment to the House health care reform bill was recently rejected by the Energy and Commerce Committee.  The amendment, introduced by Rep. Phil Gingrey, M.D. (R-GA), gave representatives a chance to say bureaucrats will not dictate how doctors must practice medicine if the Democrat's health reform bill is passed.

The amendment read, simply:

(k) Construction - Nothing in this section shall be construed to allow any federal employee or political appointee to dictate how a medical provider practices medicine.

Take a look at the amendment yourself here.

It could not be much clearer.  The key word in the amendment is "dictate" and by rejecting this amendment, the Democrat-controlled committee says bureaucrats will be allowed to dictate to doctors.

Rep. John Shadegg (R-Ariz.) makes the case pretty clearly in this video.
