Empower America Announces: National Enterprise Zones of Choice

Today, Empower America announced a new legislative initiative titled: National Enterprise Zones of Choice. This proposal, which is targeted toward urban and rural communities, has two fundamental goals: 1) increase incentives for economic growth through a reformed tax structure. 2) improve educational opportunities by offering widespread parental choice.

The outline of the proposal is detailed in a new white paper titled, “National Enterprise Zones of Choice: Demonstrating the Power of Tax Reform and Ending Economic Dependency.” This white paper was released today and posted on Empower America’s web site: www.empoweramerica.org. The white paper focuses on the first tier or “economic component” of the National Enterprise Zones of Choice proposal.* It outlines a comprehensive plan that would allow the poorest parts of the United States to be transformed into new enterprise zones of choice. The individuals and firms doing business and living in these zones, who are subject to federal income tax, would then be given the freedom to choose whether to be taxed under the current tax system or under an alternative, reformed, simplified tax code.

In this white paper, Empower America demonstrates how the economic component of the National Enterprise Zones of Choice proposal will significantly improve existing “empowerment zones” and provide real and immediate incentives to fuel economic growth and developmental opportunity in the most economically depressed communities in America.

A companion white paper titled, “National Enterprise Zones of Choice: Demonstrating the Power of School Choice,” is forthcoming.

The white paper can be accessed in its entirety on Empower America’s web site:
