After Senate Vote on Short-Term, Limited-Duration Health Plans, FreedomWorks Calls on Republicans to Repeal ObamaCare

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to the Senate’s vote this morning to uphold the administration’s “short-term, limited-duration” (STLD) health plans, Jason Pye, FreedomWorks’ vice president of legislative affairs, commented:

“We are pleased to see that Republicans in the Senate stood up to the falsehoods promulgated by Democrats in their efforts to stifle one of the only real actions taken to expand healthcare choice since ObamaCare’s passage — undoing the Obama administration’s desperate move to force people onto ObamaCare by stifling short-term, limited-duration plans through federal overregulation.”

“However, with ObamaCare still on the books, the expansion of short-term, limited-duration plans have some potential consequences, including driving premiums up, increasing spending, and tempting moderates to support a bailout of the exchanges. Republicans must also stand up to the falsehoods promulgated by Democrats around ObamaCare’s regulations and follow through on actually repealing ObamaCare as they have promised on the campaign trail for the past four election cycles.”
