Call your Congressman

In the final hours of Saturday night, the House of Representatives voted on Nancy Pelosi’s proposed takeover of the American healthcare system.  To the dismay of many Americans–especially hundreds of thousands those who attended the massive 9/12 March and the tens of thousands who attended last Thursday’s protest on Capitol Hill— the bill passed with a vote of 220 in favor to 215 opposed.

Although Speaker Pelosi (D-Calif.) claims that passing a bill with bipartisan opposition by the slimmest of margins is a victory, it is not.  The fact of the matter is that the battle over economic freedom and healthcare independence is far from over.  Remember, President Obama planned to have a government takeover of the healthcare system on his desk BEFORE the August recess.  Instead, Americans from all walks of life have stood in defiance of this audacious power grab.  And as long as we continue to fight, we will defeat the passage of a similar bill in the Senate.

Now more than ever, it is vitally important that you call your Representative.  If he/she voted against the 1,990 page Pelosi takeover, thank him/her for fighting to preserve the free market system.  If he/she voted for the colossal bill, call and inform him/her that you took notice of the vote and that you will make sure that your friends and family take notice as well.  Staying active will make those in the House think long and hard about voting for a bill if it comes to conference between the House and Senate.  It will also show Senators that if they vote for cloture on a Senate bill, they will be held accountable.

We must not give up.  We must continue to work.  If we do, we will be victorious.
