CSE Joining TJF in Supporting Owens
A diverse collection of individuals and groups will hold a press conference on the steps of the Texas Supreme Court Building on Monday, July 15th, at 10:00 a.m. The groups will announce their unanimous support for the nomination of President George W. Bush of Texas Supreme Court Justice Priscilla Owen to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Those
announcing their support are: Texas Justice Foundation, Free Market Foundation, Liberty Legal Institute, Becky Farrar, State Advisor and Legislative Liaison for Concerned Women for America Texas, Texas Eagle Forum, Tim Lambert, President of Texas Home School Coalition, Texas Christian
Coalition, Marc Levin and Young Conservatives of Texas and Texas Citizens for a Sound Economy.
These groups will announce that they concur in the judgment of the American Bar Association and President Bush that Justice Owen is a “highly qualified” candidate for the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. While not agreeing with every decision Justice Owen has ever rendered, these groups agree with the people of Texas who have elected her to the Texas Supreme Court that she is a highly qualified, independent mainstream justice.
The groups will also announce their condemnation of liberal special interests groups who oppose her nomination. They will also announce their support for nomination of a former Democratic Texas Supreme Court Justice member for Justice to the Fifth Circuit Court as well.

Your help is needed today to ensure that Texas protects its judges. The liberal left has been conspiring to stop President Bush from filling seats on the federal bench. Despite the fact that we are facing a judicial crisis, Senator Leahy (D-VT) continues to stall nominations and his liberal Left Judiciary Committee along with their cronies in groups such as NARAL, NOW and People for the American Way continue to thwart well-qualified nominees. The latest judge in their sights is Texas’ own Priscilla Owens. Priscilla Owen is a strong constitutional advocate that makes Texas proud. Currently a Justice on the Supreme Court of Texas, Priscilla Owen first won election in 1994. In her re-election bid in 2000, every major newspaper in Texas endorsed her.
Call Senators Leahy (D-VT), Biden (D-DE), Feinstein (D-CA), and Edwards (D-NC) today and tell them to confirm Priscilla Owen to the federal bench of the 5th circuit court. Let them know that Texans won’t stand for their attempts to manipulate the government through judicial activism and that Priscilla Owen represents the people! Time is short and urgent action is needed- call TODAY!
