CSE in the Trenches, Reaching 1.7 Million Voters

As voters went to the polls in ten battleground states yesterday, it was likely they had heard from Citizens for a Sound Economy (CSE). That’s because CSE ran a massive voter education and “Get Out the Vote” drive to educate and mobilize voters on the important issues: Social Security reform, scraping the tax code, legal reform, and energy security.

This past election, CSE and Oregon CSE PAC directly reached over 1.7 million individual voters with direct mail, telephone calls, and house visits. Millions more were reached indirectly through a paid radio, newspaper, and television media campaign.

CSE and Oregon CSE PAC let voters in Alabama, Florida, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, Oklahoma, and Washington know which candidates will fight for lower taxes, less government, and more freedom. In several of these states, CSE was the only grassroots group actively on the ground fighting for less government.

CSE and Oregon CSE PAC sent over 1.05 million direct mail pieces, made over 548,000 telephone calls to registered voters, and knocked on over 100,000 doors.

Of course, CSE’s impact is much greater than just paid media and direct mail. We had 30 paid staff in the field, working tirelessly with volunteers to spread our message by attending political events, forcing candidates to sign pledges not to raise taxes, pounding over 6,000 CSE election-related yard signs into the ground, and by making countless media appearances.

Our effort proved decisive in several states, and more voters than ever will had the information they needed at the polls this year.

We all know the unions are a monster in getting out the vote and wanting to raise taxes and spend more money. This year, the conservative and free market community had an equally effective answer: Citizens for a Sound Economy.
