Decision is in: Now let’s get to work!

Now that the Supreme Court has decided by whatever twisted logic that the federal government may compel us to buy health insurance, lovers of freedom have no choice but to elect representatives who will do everything in their power to gut and repeal this terrible atrocity known as Obamacare.

November 6 will be a referendum on this decision, make no mistake about it. Conservatives mostly run the House, but as we’ve seen lately, without a majority in the Senate it’s not helping us repeal bad legislation or pass good legislation either. We have to win the White House and Senate in November, it’s true, but that’s not enough. We have to follow it up with a repeal of Obamacare in January.

Even if we’re successful with these great tasks before us,  we can never get tired, never go back to sleep. We’ve done that before, and progressives in both parties stole our country. They want to keep it and the power they so desperately seek.

The quote by Wendell Phillips, “Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty; power is ever stealing from the many to the few,” could not be more true of our circumstances today.

So, patriots‬, conservatives, libertarians, and lovers of America: what are you prepared to do to rescue your country?

All over the globe as populist uprisings take place, people are risking – and losing – their lives simply for the opportunity to participate in their governments. I ask again, what will you do?

If you say, “I’d give my life for my country!”, will you give up your weekends from now until November?

If you say you’d crawl across broken glass to rescue your country and preserve it for the next generation, would you walk across the street and knock on your neighbor’s door?

If you say “I’d pledge my life, my fortune, and my sacred honor,” — we’re not even asking for that much, but something far less costly: your pride.

One of the most effective things you can do to elect conservatives is to knock on your neighbor’s door and talk to them about the direction of the country.  You won’t convince everyone. But convincing them is not really your job. All you have to do is get them to vote. You have to open yourself to the possibility that your neighbor will reject your message.

We can’t do it alone, or even by banding together online. We have to do that in the cities, towns, and neighborhoods where we live and find others to join us.

To be an effective activist, you have to join a team.

Find a House or Senate campaign for which you’re happy to volunteer.  Even finding a local candidate can be incredibly valuable. Many times the people you contact and get to vote for your local candidate will vote for the other conservative candidates on the ballot as well.

Freedomworks Can Help

Log on to FreedomConnector, and find nearby activists and events. Your local patriot group is probably represented.

This Saturday, join Freedomworks on a grassroots strategy call. I’ll be on the call as well.

We have to do these things. There is no one else. As Justice Roberts concluded his opinion,

Those decisions are entrusted to our Nation’s elected leaders, who can be thrown out of office if the people disagree with them.  It is not our job to protect the people from the consequences of their political choices.

It is up to us. Fortunately, I believe we are up to the job.
