Elizabeth Dole Pledges Not to Raise Taxes

U.S. Senate candidate Elizabeth Dole pledged to vote against any tax increases during her term in the United States Senate. Mrs. Dole responded to a tax questionnaire from North Carolina Citizens for a Sound Economy. To date, Mrs. Dole, Dr. Ada Fisher, Dr. Jim Parker, Jim Snyder, Dr. Ven Challa, and Doug Sellers have all responded to NC CSE’S tax questionnaire.

NC CSE director Jonathan Hill said, “We believe the tax cuts passed last year should be made permanent. We believe that tax increases are bad fiscal policy especially when our economy is in an economic downturn and hard-working families are struggling to balance their own budgets. We know where Mrs. Dole stands on these issues as well, and she agrees with NC CSE. Now we are waiting to hear from candidates Erskine Bowles, Dan Blue, Elaine Marshall, and Cynthia Brown.”

Hill added, “These are very basic issues. The people of North Carolina deserve to hear from all of the candidates. I applaud all the candidates that responded and thank them for providing voters with the information on where they stand on taxes.”
