Environmental Conservation Without Over Regulation

In a Washington Post op-ed, South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford argues that it is not a contradiction to be a conservative and a conservationist. Rather, conservatives need to offer their own ideas for conservation that doesn’t involve the far left tactics of government regulation and scaling back of personal freedom. Sanford argues that over regulation will only hurt the economy and not have the desired effects. Instead, tangible benefits to the environment can be made through conservative principles of stewardship, expanding economic opportunity, and technologic innovation. Kudos to Governor Sanford for speaking up on this issue and offering commmon sense ideas that protect individual liberty and may produce visible change.
