Fifty CSE Activists Attend Mitchell and Yancey County Meeting

On March 23, 2004, fifty CSE Members from Mitchell and Yancey County attended a meeting to discuss a key issue this year: U.S. economy and jobs creation.

The Guest Speaker was John Yarboro,Jr. Mr. Yarboro is the Director Government Relations for Western Carolina Industries.

He addressed the question of why U.S. jobs are going overseas and how we can combat the problem:

1. Eliminate burdensome Government regulations

2. Real tort reform to stop the class action litigation abuse and to reduce the cost of medical malpractice insurance to make health care more affordable for workers and businesses.

Additionally, the complex and perverse U.S. tax code actually encourages companies to keep investment and profits out of the United States, and real U.S. corporate tax rates are some of the highest in the developed world. It’s another reason America needs fundamental tax reform.

Great work on a tough issue, NC CSE!
