Florida CSE Meets with Speaker Byrd, Lobbies State Legislature

On April 20th, 2004, CSE South Florida Director John Hallman led a group of CSE activists from around the state to the capital in Tallahassee. The schedule– to fight for lower taxes and less government– included a meeting on Tuesday morning with House Speaker Johnnie Byrd. Speaker Byrd briefed CSE about an important bill, HJR 385, that passed the House but is pending in the Senate. HJR 385 would put restrictions on the growth of state spending and the power to raise taxes.

Florida CSE strongly backs this important legislation. After the meeting with Speaker Byrd, inspired CSE activists visited various Senators and asked them to support HJR 385.

John Hallman thanked Speaker Byrd for his leadership in bringing fiscal responsibility and lower taxes to all Floridians. CSE would like to thank the following CSE members who took part in this important event on short notice:

John Earley
John Parsons
Doug Klippel
Mike Meroney
Jerry Cameron
Allen Turnage

Thanks guys, and keep up the great work!
