Florida FreedomWorks “Own Your Future Tour” continues in Delray Beach!

DELRAY BEACH. FreedomWorks Florida State Director John Hallman spoke to the Delray Beach Womens Republican Club on Social Security Reform. John gave the audience an update on the 2006 Social Security Trustee’s Report and how Social Security is headed towards insolvency even sooner than expected. John then gave a brief history of Social Security and the attempts to fix the broken system.

John Hallman commented “Congress has tried to fix the system by raising payroll taxes and cutting benefits, and yet the system is still broken”.John explained to the audience how Congress has raided the Social Security Trust Fund over the last 20 years to use for other budget items such as pork barrel spending. John went on to explain how we need a 21st century solution to Social Security by allowing workers to invest a portion of their payroll taxes into a Personal Retirement Account. John commented “history has clearly shown that long term investing in conservative investment vehicles have proven to provide a much better retirement than Social Security can ever provide”.

John finished his presentation by talking about the huge unfunded liability of both Medicare and Social Security and how we are passing on this debt to our future generations. John commented “are we going to continue to allow Congress to stick their heads in the sand and hope the problem will go away, or are we going to stand up and insist that Congress fix this problem without raising taxes and cutting benefits”. John distributed the 7.65 solution brochure to the audience and urged everybody to read how we can fix both Social Security and Medicare.
