FreedomWorks’ Statement on the State of the Union Address

Following the conclusion of President Barack Obama’s final State of the Union address, FreedomWorks CEO Adam Brandon commented:

"What we heard tonight sounded more like a lecture from an elitist college professor than a realistic agenda from a Democratic president facing a Congress controlled by Republicans. He’s completely uninterested in working with Congress, which is why he’s planning to continue implementing what’s left of his agenda through unconstitutional executive actions and orders. It’s difficult for Congress to have the ‘rational’ and ‘constructive’ debates that President Obama’s wants when he refuses to participate in them.”

“And while President Obama claims the economy has momentum, for which he takes credit, the recovery is one of the weakest since World War II. He still hasn’t figured out that many laws passed and regulations promulgated on his watch have hampered our economy. Our economy may still be the strongest in the world, but economic freedom is on the decline, our national debt continues to skyrocket, and crushing costs of entitlement programs continue to mount. Americans experience real prosperity only when the power of the market is unleashed, with as little interference from the federal government as possible.”
