FreedomWorks Applauds Commissioner Carr’s Plan to Foster 5G Rollout and Innovation

FreedomWorks President Adam Brandon issued the following statement on FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr’s speech announcing the next step in the Commission’s wireless infrastructure plan:

“The expansion of private-sector broadband in America has created countless jobs and improved the quality of life for millions of Americans across the country. This happened despite the many outdated infrastructure regulations that were in place, which hamper the deployment of next generation technologies.

“Reforming our regulatory structure surrounding broadband infrastructure will ensure the U.S. leads the way when it comes to 5G deployment. Commissioner Carr’s plan will mean millions of new jobs, and billions of dollars in new investment in our private sector. It will create the conditions for broadband to expand to under-served communities. Included in Carr’s proposal is the institution of strict time limits for permit approvals, or a ‘shot clock.’ FreedomWorks has long advocated for this kind of reform government-wide and we’re delighted to see it embraced here. We are eager to see the advancements these much-needed reforms will bring.”
