Taking a stand for consumers, Governor Jim Doyle gave his approval to the landmark Assembly Bill 207, the "Wisconsin Video Competition Act," paving the way for cable choice throughout the state. All fall, FreedomWorks activists throughout Wisconsin helped to pass this important legislation: making phone calls, sending letters and emails to their assemblymen.

The hard work paid off this afternoon with the Governor's early Christmas gift to Wisconsin residents. Signing the Wisconsin Video Competition Act opened the doors to cable competition across the state, freeing customers from pre-arranged franchise agreements and giving them more options. Cable companies, without the shelter of an out-dated process skewed in their favor, will finally be forced to consider their public and respond with prices and services that set them apart.

FreedomWorks Chairman, Dick Armey, responded to the good news, "Where healthy competition thrives, consumers win. When companies compete you get more choices, and lower prices; those are two things we can all use more of."
