FreedomWorks Applauds Utah House GOP for Rejecting ObamaCare Expansion

Following news of the rejection of ObamaCare expansion by Utah House Republicans on Wednesday, FreedomWorks National Grassroots Director Noah Wall commented:

"Utah House Republicans saw the cost of ObamaCare expansion and wisely declined, despite political pressure from Governor Herbert and Republican leaders in both chambers. This plan would have been costly for Utahns."

"Expansion of Medicaid through ObamaCare doesn’t necessarily translate into access to health care. Patients are often plagued by a lack of providers and research has found that Medicaid doesn’t lead to better outcomes. By President Obama’s own admission, Medicaid is ‘broken.’ ObamaCare did nothing to address the significant problems with this program."

FreedomWorks raised awareness to ObamaCare expansion in Utah. Over the last several months, Utah activists logged hundreds of calls to state lawmakers urging them to reject expansion. Additionally, FreedomWorks distributed literature at events in Utah, including the state GOP convention, which outlined the urgent need to engage state lawmakers on this issue.

FreedomWorks aims to educate, build, and mobilize the largest network of activists advocating the principles of smaller government, lower taxes, free markets, personal liberty, and the rule of law.
