FreedomWorks Calls on Supporters of Green New Deal Resolution to Identify Which Aspects of FAQ to Include in Final Bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to the report that the FAQ document released in conjunction with the Green New Deal resolution, H. Res. 109, was in fact incorrect and subsequently retracted, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks President, issued the following statement:

“While last week’s resolution to create a Green New Deal was itself short and vague, the corresponding FAQ document released by Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s office gave a more detailed account of how to implement a ’massive transformation of [American] society’ and the U.S. economy.”

“Now that Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s office has removed the FAQ from her congressional website, I’d like to know specifically which inaccuracies within the original document merited its removal. Was it the references to getting rid of cows and airplanes or providing ‘economic security’ for people ‘unwilling to work’ or the failure to explain how Congress will pay for this wish list of socialist programs?”

“Additionally, I call on Sens. Booker, Gillibrand, Harris, and Warren, all avowed supporters of the proposal, to explain in detail which aspects of the FAQ they want included in the Green New Deal’s final language.”

“Rather than rely on short-lived FAQs, the American people deserve to know what will be included in the Green New Deal before its voted upon. Unlike during the debate over Obamacare in 2010, voters deserve the utmost transparency from their elected officials on both sides of the aisle.”
