FreedomWorks Celebrates One-Year Anniversary of the Repeal of Title II Regulations

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- In response to the anniversary of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) repealing the burdensome Title II regulations on the Internet, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks President, commented:

“One year ago today, the FCC’s Restoring Internet Freedom Order went into effect. At the time, Democrats predicted the end of the Internet as we know it, and even went so far as to say that repealing Internet regulations would lead to deaths across the nation. This inflammatory rhetoric had no basis in reality then, and is even more baseless today.

“In the year since Title II was repealed, fiber was deployed to more new U.S. homes than any year before. Small cell deployment quadrupled, as did the deployment of other related wireless infrastructure. We also saw an increase in average broadband speeds across the country. Our Internet works best when the government takes a step back. That is just what Chairman Pai and the rest of the Commission achieved on this day last year.”
