WASHINGTON, D.C. -- In response to FDA Commissioner Gottlieb’s recent decision to restrict sales of electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS), FreedomWorks Foundation has today issued a letter of disapproval on behalf of its nationwide grassroots activist community. The text of the letter can be found below.
Patrick Hedger, FreedomWorks Director of Policy, issued the following statement in conjunction with the letter:
“Commissioner Gottlieb’s decision to regulate the sale of flavored ENDS products is both unwise and ultimately harmful to consumers. The FDA’s decision to further restrict certain ENDS products is a prime example of allowing the perfect to become the enemy of the good. FDA also continues to obstruct the development and sale of other less-harmful products, ignoring their mandate under law and other legal obligations. These products are critical in allowing cigarette users to transition to less-harmful products. This decision from Commissioner Gottlieb represents a 180 degree change from his comments last year.”
“FreedomWorks Foundation’s Regulatory Action Center (RAC) is poised to launch an activist-driven campaign in the coming months in opposition to the FDA’s poor decision with regards to ENDS products.”
