FreedomWorks Foundation Releases First Paper Addressing HHS Push For Prescription Drug Price Controls

WASHINGTON, D.C. — FreedomWorks Foundation announces the launch of its paper, “The Illegal Pricing Index,” highlighting the legal issues associated with mandating price controls of prescription drugs. This paper is the first in a series on this issue. Ken Cuccinelli, FreedomWorks Foundation Director of the Regulatory Action Center, commented:

“The administration has blasted socialist policies proposed by far-left Democrats in Congress. We share this sentiment, but we are incredibly concerned about the new proposal by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), referred to as the International Pricing Index (IPI). This proposal would dramatically undermine American leadership in pharmaceutical innovation and risk patient access to life-changing and life-saving treatments. We don’t need to import price controls from socialist foreign nations. American health care works best when the markets for prescription drugs are free.”
