FreedomWorks Foundation Statement in Response to FDA Commissioner Gottlieb’s Decision to Resign

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- In response to FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb’s recent decision to resign, Patrick Hedger, FreedomWorks Foundation Director of Policy, commented:

“Commissioner Gottlieb’s tenure at the helm of the FDA started out with great promise in terms of deregulation that put the health of American consumers first. Unfortunately, in the past few months the Commissioner completely reversed course, proposing a nanny state agenda that included a ban on e-cigarette vaping products and limitations on the use of phrases such as ‘almond milk.’ We’re hopeful that Gottlieb’s successor will better embrace the Trump Administration’s deregulatory agenda.”

FreedomWorks Foundation recently signed a coalition letter with several other allied groups appealing to the White House to intervene in opposition to Commissioner Gottlieb’s e-cigarette vaping product ban.

In November 2018, FreedomWorks Foundation issued a letter directly to Commissioner Gottlieb voicing our concerns with his agenda.
