FreedomWorks Launches “Stop Comcast” Campaign to Combat Media Bias

Washington, DC- FreedomWorks is urging activists to push back against Comcast CEO Brian Roberts and his biased media empire by changing cable TV service providers. The “Stop Comcast” campaign is the latest effort of the Market Freedom Project, FreedomWorks’ action center to expose -and ultimately end- the collusion between big business and big government.

The Comcast-funded news organization MSNBC has aggressively promoted President Obama’s political agenda through its biased news coverage, consistently missing the bar for responsible journalism by manipulating news events to advance a left-wing political agenda. Comcast CEO Brian Roberts is close to President Obama – he served on the President’s jobs panel and recently hosted a cocktail reception for the Obama’s during their recent vacation in Martha’s Vineyard.

FreedomWorks Senior Fellow, Tom Borelli, commented, “While Comcast has the right to bankroll the salaries of progressive talking heads like Al Sharpton, we citizens have the right to take our money and our viewership elsewhere. By exercising marketplace choice, conservative activists can challenge the propaganda at Comcast’s media units and withdraw our financial support for unchallenged opinion programming that conflict with our values.”

The campaign website, www.StopComcast.com provides a variety of market alternatives to Comcast, including the Dish network, Verizon, AT&T, Time Warner Cable and Direct TV.

FreedomWorks is a service center to a community of over 6 million grassroots activists nationwide who believe in individual liberty and constitutionally-limited government. For more information, please visit www.StopComcast.com or contact Jackie Bodnar at JBodnar@FreedomWorks.org.
