Matt Kibbe, president and CEO of Tea Party group FreedomWorks, on Sunday rejected suggestions that Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-Ky.) filibuster on drones had weakened the GOP’s image on national security issues.
“I think the new GOP reflected by Rand Paul’s willingness to challenge the status quo in both the Republican and Democratic parties, that’s a healthy thing,” said Kibbe in an interview on “Fox News Sunday.” And young people in particular, they are looking for leadership that’s willing to challenge the idea that government is always right. - Meghashyam Mali, March 17, 2013, Read MoreFreedomWorks releases 2012 congressional scorecard, 2013 FreedomFighter awards
FreedomWorks, a leading organization for lower taxes, less government, and more freedom today announced the release of their second annual Freedom Fighter awards for 2013 and the 2012 Congressional scorecards.
The second annual FreedomWorks FreedomFighter award is given only to principled Senators and Representatives who fight for economic liberty, constitutionally-limited government, and who consistently voted in defense of economic freedom. Each recipient earned a minimum score of 90 percent on the FreedomWorks Congressional Scorecard during the 2012 legislative session, which often required legislators to cast politically unpopular votes inside the Beltway in order to defend liberty and strengthen the economy across the country. – Christopher Collins, March 17, 2013, Read MoreFreedomWorks CEO: RNC Report Short on Ideas
The president and CEO of a leading conservative grassroots organization tells Newsmax that missing from a report out by the Republican National Committee on Monday is any mention of exciting candidates who run on ideas.
The “Growth and Opportunity Project” introduced by RNC Chairman Reince Priebus included 219 recommendations focused on how to restructure the party through messaging, connecting with youth and minority voters, campaign mechanics and technology. “They’re saying a lot of the same things that we’ve been saying,” says Matt Kibbe, president and CEO of FreedomWorks. “One of the key things that seem to be missing though is that the GOP only seems to win when it runs on ideas.” – David Yonkman, March 18, 2013, Read More
Yesterday, Matt Kibbe, President and CEO of FreedomWorks, and former Rep. Steve LaTourette, President and CEO of the Republican Main Street Partnership, joined Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday to discuss the direction of the Republican Party.
Kibbe and FreedomWorks have focused on supporting fiscal conservatives in primaries across the country, including backing primary challenges to more moderate members of Congress. FreedomWorks was essential to electing Rand Paul, Mike Lee, Marco Rubio, and Ted Cruz — all of which went up against establishment candidates or incumbents with questionable records. LaTourette and the Republican Main Street Partnership have tried to steer the Republican Party in a more centrist direction. – Jason Pye, March 18, 2013, Read MoreTop Conservatives Are Not Happy With The RNC's Autopsy, And They're Still Blaming Karl Rove
On the same day Establishment Republicans prescribed solutions for the future of the party, top conservatives here ripped into GOP strategist Karl Rove and his new Super PAC that will aim to weed out more conservative candidates it views as unelectable.
"Look at the stage at CPAC just a couple days ago. Who are the rock stars of the GOP?" Matt Kibbe, executive director of FreedomWorks, asked an audience of influential conservatives at the monthly New York Meeting confab. "They're exactly the candidates that the Republican consultants said could not possibly win. Not now, not ever." –Brett LoGiurato, March 19, 2013, Read MoreGohmert wins 'Freedom Fighter Award'

Matt Kibbe, the president and CEO of Tea Party ally FreedomWorks, said he does not think Paul's immigration announcement hurt his potential 2016 presidential aspirations.
"I think he's sort of risen to the top of the GOP ladder simply by putting ideas back on the table," Kibbe said, referring to both the filibuster and his budget plan. "All of these ideas that most Republicans pay lip service to, he's putting specifics on the table. It's a calculated risk taking that puts him ahead of his other potential primary opponents for 2016." – Shushannah Walshe, March 21, 2013, Read MoreIn the Blogs…

GohmertHouseGov.org: Rep. Louie Gohmert (TX-01) was recently awarded with Freedom Works’ second annual “Freedom Fighter Award.” This award is given to members of the House and Senate who consistently vote in defense of economic freedom.
“Freedom Works is a powerful voice in America for principles of liberty giving rise to innovation and opportunity. They emphasize the critical need for individual freedom and adherence to the constitutional limitations on our ‘big brother’ government in Washington. It is an honor to be awarded the “Freedom Fighter Award” again this year since it represents a finding by a valued and well respected organization that analyzes the issues that I represent the core beliefs held by most east Texans. Voting with the mindset of hardworking American taxpayers is essential if we are going to leave our children and their children at least as good of a gift as our parents and grandparents left us,’ said Rep. Gohmert.” Read MoreTelevision & Videos...
