Freedom Works activists from across North Carolina were in the Capitol today to attend a press conference to promote the passage of H878 "Eminent Domain" and to visit with Legislators.
This bill will protect the private property rights of citizens in NC and has tremendous support from around the state. H878 was passed in the State House with an overwhelming vote of 104-15. By any measure that is wide bi-partisan support. Even so, H878 has been sent to the Ways and Means Comm. in the Senate. This is considered the "dead letter office." This committee has not met since 2001 and without some pressure from citizens, it is unlikely that H878 will see the "light of day."
Our activists participated in interviews with various media outlets and then delivered letters to each Legislator regarding the importance of having this bill heard in committee or assigned to another committee. Citizens of NC deserve to have the bill heard and debated and Freedom Works activists intend to see that this is accomplished.
