FreedomWorks Praises the House for Passing the FIRST STEP Act

Washington, DC- FreedomWorks praises the House for passing the FIRST STEP Act as a major step in the right direction for criminal justice reform.

FreedomWorks’ President Adam Brandon made the following comments:

“It’s great to finally see the House take leadership on an issue that unites both sides of the aisle. The passage of the FIRST STEP Act will help reduce recidivism rates nationwide, enhancing public safety and saving taxpayer dollars.”

“More than 30 states across the country, led by traditionally conservative Georgia and Texas, have already implemented many of the policies outlined in the FIRST STEP Act. It’s about time that Congress caught up with the states and got on-board with evidence-based criminal justice reform.”
