FreedomWorks Raleigh Day at the Capitol a Huge Success

FreedomWorks Rallies in North Carolina for Lower Taxes, Less Government and More Freedom!

On Tuesday June 27 FreedomWorks North Carolina held its annual Day at the Capitol in Raleigh. Over 300 activists, legislators, staff and reporters gathered under the tents outside the legislative buildings, despite the rain and mud.

The group heard from top FreedomWorks leaders in North Carolina, as well as staff from Washington, D.C. The keynote speaker was Professor Mike Adams, of UNC-Wilmington, and author of “The Ivory Tower of Babel.” The group received an update on the Navy’s plans to create an outer laying field by confiscating private property on the coastline of North Carolina.

The group spent a few hours lobbying key legislators like State Senator Keith Presnell and State Rep. Maggie Jeffus on issues ranging from taxes, to property rights, toll roads and education. One interesting moment occurred when FreedomWorks members surrounded state representative State Senator Martin Nesbitt and urged him to sign the Freedom Survey, which he declined.

Speaker of the House Jim Black had to shut his door (picture below) to hide from his constituents and concerned FreedomWorks members.

The day went very well, and was covered by the Myrtle Beach Sun News, based in South Carolina. The “No OLF” team was interviewed by the AP, WRAL TV 5 and UNC TV.
