FreedomWorks On The Road With Presidential Hopeful Duncan Hunter

On February 22 and 23, FreedomWorks activists from North and South Carolina spent time getting to know 2008 Presidential candidate, Duncan Hunter.  We were delighted to have the opportunity to share our “2007 Freedom Agenda” with the congressman.

Congressman Hunter joined activists for an evening of informal issue discussion.  We were then honored to have the Congressman speak at our Issues Briefing held the following morning.

Activists were welcomed to the Issues Briefing by North Carolina activist, Kathy Hartkopf who explained that over the coming months, FreedomWorks will be hosting opportunities to meet the various presidential candidates and share with them our principles of lower taxes and less government.

South Carolina activists Rick Beltram led the invocation and Mary Ann Riley led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Congressman Hunter was introduced by North Carolina activist, Wayne King.  Congressman Hunter addressed the group about his “vision for America”.  The congressman also fielded questions from the gathering of interested activists.

Activists Lib Rhodes and Roy Loflin asked Congressman Hunter to sign one of our “School Choice – Because Parents Know Best!” stickers.  Congressman Hunter happily obliged.

Chad Connely, State Director of South Carolinians for Responsible Government, addressed the group about school choice.

Steve Henson, with the Southern Appalachian Multiple-Use Council, addressed the group about property rights.

Prior to closing the issues forum, Kathy Hartkopf issued a FreedomWorks Action Alert.  Activists were asked to contact South Carolina state representatives about a proposed regressive cigarette tax increase.
