FreedomWorks: Senate Democrats CRA Show-Vote is a ‘Disgrace’

Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) has officially introduced a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution to roll back the ‘Restoring Internet Freedom Order’ and reinstate President Obama’s harmful net neutrality regulations.

FreedomWorks Director of Policy Patrick Hedger gave the following response:

“It is cringe-worthy to watch Senate Democrats launch a charade to ‘save the internet’ after senators on both sides of the aisle demonstrated zero understanding of the Internet during the Facebook hearings.

“It’s a disgrace to watch Senate Democrats exploit Senator McCain’s medical absence to give themselves a better shot of forcing the CRA resolution through the Senate.

“Senator Markey knows this CRA effort is nothing more than a show-vote during an election year. Even if it passes the Senate, it will not pass the House, and stands zero chance of passing President Trump’s desk.

“Rushing this vote is a sleazy effort to score political points from America’s general unease with technology policy at the expense of an ailing Senate colleague. Shame on them.”

In anticipation of this announcement, FreedomWorks held a nationwide “Digital Day of Action” on May 8 to educate citizens on the dangers of net neutrality and to urge select congressional Republicans to defend internet freedom.

Grassroots activists took more than 300,000 total actions and tallied more than 325,000 total views on FreedomWorks’ Facebook and Twitter live streams.
