FreedomWorks Stands with Senator Ted Cruz’s Filibuster to Stop Harry Reid’s Procedural Trickery

Washington, DC- FreedomWorks is engaging activists nationwide to support Senator Ted Cruz’s filibuster against a rigged amendment process that forces the Senate to consider only one amendment striking the language that defunds ObamaCare, with only a simple majority required to pass it.

FreedomWorks President Matt Kibbe commented, “While establishment Republicans like Cornyn, McCain and McConnell are sitting out the fight and siding with Washington insiders, it’s inspiring to see the next generation of Republican leaders stand up for good policy when it counts. This is a showdown between DC insiders and the rest of America. There is still a chance to defund ObamaCare if a united House and Senate GOP force a negotiation with the Democrats. We are proud to stand with Senators Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and other principled conservatives in the fight to do what they promised they would do - use every option on the table to defund, delay, and dismantle the President’s expensive and broken pet project.”

FreedomWorks has driven thousands of calls to Congress to defund ObamaCare in the Senate. Following reports from activists that some Congressional offices have begun to shut their phone lines down, FreedomWorks is also encouraging activists to expand the fight to social media, providing a list of the Twitter handles for key Members of the Senate to hold accountable using the hashtags #KeepCruzing and #MakeDCListen.

Kibbe added, “We encourage other principled conservatives to stand with Senator Ted Cruz in his filibuster effort today, and FreedomWorks will be issuing a Key Vote “NO” against the Reid-McConnell cloture motion on our congressional scorecard.”
