FreedomWorks Statement on Majority Leader McConnell’s Promise to Keep Senate in Session Throughout October

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-Ky.) recent decision to break with tradition and keep the Senate in session throughout the month of October, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks President, commented:

“While the Senate has been able to confirm President Trump’s judicial nominees at a rapid pace, there is still much to be done. Conservatives are eager to see Majority Leader McConnell keep his promises after he half-heartedly ‘cancelled’ the August recess. This is a good choice by McConnell to keep the Senate in session throughout the month of October.

“It’s time now for Senate Republicans to get to work and do what they were elected to do — That is, advance the bold conservative agenda they campaigned on: shrinking the size of government, cutting taxes, and repealing ObamaCare. What we need now is to continue to confirm conservative, qualified judicial nominees, in particular the extremely qualified Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court before it begins its October session.”
