FreedomWorks Statement in Response to Rumored Provisions in the Coronavirus Package

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to the insertion of a provision calling for price controls on vaccines in the congressional coronavirus package, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks’ President, commented:

"The threat of coronavirus is certainly weighing heavy on the minds of many American families today. Sadly, instead of rising to meet the occasion, many politicians in Washington see this as an opportunity to advance an agenda and further their personal re-election bids.

“Elected officials are already trying to boost their political credentials by driving up the price tag of this package. More nefariously, they have also lobbied to insert a provision that would impose price controls on any potential vaccine. Price controls restrict research and development and make it less likely that a treatment will be made widely available to the public. We beg politicians in Washington to save the petty bickering for a later date and to not play games with this package.”
