FreedomWorks Statement in Support of Letter Urging House to Adhere to BCA Spending Caps

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to Rep. Chip Roy’s (R-Texas) letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Cal.) urging her to adhere to the 2011 Budget Control Act’s (BCA) spending caps for FY 2020 and 2021, Jason Pye, FreedomWorks Vice President of Legislative Affairs, commented:

“FreedomWorks stands by Rep. Roy in his effort to return fiscal sanity to Washington and thanks him for leading the charge. Year after year, Congress has neglected its duty as steward of the taxpayers by actively voting to spend far above these discretionary budget caps. The national debt recently surpassed $22 trillion and if Congress does not change course and cut spending, fiscal uncertainty and financial instability will take a dramatic toll on the American economy.”

As of May 9, 2019, signatories of Rep. Roy’s letter included: Reps. Chip Roy, Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), Michael Cloud (R-Texas), Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), Brian Babin (R-Texas), Ron Wright (R-Texas), Van Taylor (R-Texas), Ted Budd (R-N.C.), Tom McClintock (R-Cal.), Jody Hice (R-Ga.), Ken Buck (R-Col.), Ralph Norman (R-S.C.), Lance Gooden (R-Texas), Russ Fulcher (R-Idaho), Steve Chabot (R-Ohio), Ted S.
