FreedomWorks Thanks Roy Blunt for Standing with Grassroots Conservatives

FreedomWorks today thanked Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) for declining to meet with President Barack Obama’s Supreme Court nominee and supporting the position of its community of grassroots conservative activists. FreedomWorks believes that meetings with the nominee plays into the hands of the White House and opens the door to hearings and votes.

“Grassroots conservative activists want Republicans to take a stand with them, not surrender ground to the White House. If a senator is committed to not holding hearings or votes on President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, there’s no reason to have a meeting,” said FreedomWorks CEO Adam Brandon. “We’re glad Roy Blunt understands that, and we thank him for standing with our grassroots community.”

Since February 29, FreedomWorks’ grassroots activists have sent more than 1.5 million messages to Senate Republicans urging them to stand strong against any Supreme Court nominee named by President Obama. Sen. Blunt’s office received 22,270 messages.
