FreeodmWorks Training in North Carolina

On the weekend of November 2, FreedomWorks members from across North Carolina gathered in Burlington for two days of education and fellowship.

Friday evening’s event, moderated by Kathy Hartkopf, was met with a room packed with serious grassroots activists.  The group heard from Joe Stewart from “Insurance Federation NC”.  Joe spoke of legislative issues their group is working on.

Friday was about honoring and thanking those who dedicate their lives to working for freedom.

Buncombe was recognized as NC FreedomWorks “Chapter of the Year”.  Don Swanson was recognized as NC FreedomWorks “Activist of the Year”.

State representative John Blust spoke about the dedication of former state representative Frank Mitchell and former state senators Fern Shubert and Hugh Webster.  For their years of service and their unyielding dedication to freedom, the three were honored with the FreedomWorks “Liberty Tree Award”.

On Saturday morning’s event, moderated by Joyce Krawiec, activists received issue updates and local government training.  Bill Dills gave an update on the “North Shore Road”.  Kathy Hartkopf updated the group on recent OLF (Outlying Landing Field) changes.  Becki Gray, of the John Locke Foundation, presented a workshop on local government.

Armed with up to date information and energized by the weekend of fellowship, activists dispersed looking forward to our next event – The Liberty Summit bus trip!
