George Reports More Money Than Starr

Challenger Larry George raised more in services than incumbent Charles Starr did in cash in the final days of their Republican primary contest in Senate District 13, which includes Keizer.

According to final-week reports filed with the secretary of state, George received $28,670 in services from Oregon Citizens for a Sound Economy, the state offshoot of the national group FreedomWorks.

George also credited $2,500 from his advertising company in Sherwood.

Starr, who is seeking a third term, raised $1,500 from R.J. Reynolds and $1,000 each from Dentists of Oregon and the political action committees of the Oregon Farm Bureau Federation and Pfizer.

Totals are incomplete as of Friday’s reports, but George has raised more than Starr, $184,000 to $123,000.

The winner of Tuesday’s primary faces Democrat Rick Ross of Sherwood, who is unopposed.
