Help Us Show What Government Costs

It is not only in the matter of public expenditures that what is seen eclipses what is not seen. By leaving in the shadow half of the political economy, this phenomenon of the seen and the unseen induces a false moral standard. It leads nations to view their moral interests and their material interests as antagonistic. What could be more discouraging or more tragic?

As we stand on the brink of a government shutdown, many on the Left want us to fear what services might stop and what departments could close their doors. In essence, how a shutdown would affect us–the American people. They want us to plainly see what government gives us.

That’s because what they don’t want you to know remains unseen—the real cost of a government that has grown too large and regulates too much. The real cost is in an industry being decimated by government intervention or in the thousands of small businesses that have already been shutting down across America.

A government shutdown does not solve our problems. But what will solve this crisis is showing the American people what government has cost us.

However, the mainstream media never tells that story and it’s the reason why we’re turning to you. We need you to submit your story, on video or in an email, about how government has affected your business. How if we don’t act now to rein in government spending and excessive regulations, a government shutdown will be the least of our fears. Our real fear is a permanent shutdown of the American way of life.

Harry Reid recently complained that “the government shouldn’t have to live paycheck to paycheck”. Let’s show him what living paycheck to paycheck means for the millions of Americans who’ve been affected by the growth of big government.
