CSE Tax Tour to Mobilize Thousands in North Carolina

Throughout April, North Carolina CSE, in conjunction with the John Locke Foundation, will be crisscrossing the state educating voters on the current budget crises and highlighting where their candidates stand on tax and budget issues. Our April tax tour will make 26 stops and reach out to thousands of activists to provide them with the training, information, and materials they need to have their voices effectively heard in the battles that lay ahead. Like several other state legislatures across the nation, North Carolina’s General Assembly will have to deal with a budget shortfall when they convene later this year. Currently estimated to be $900 million, this represents its second serious budget deficit in recent years. While some state legislators are proposing to tap into rainy-day funds and roll back spending to make up the difference, there is a vocal group that has begun proposing that the budget shortfall be addressed by raising taxes and they must be stopped. Key to fighting such proposed tax increases in North Carolina will be a sustained grassroots force dedicated to the principles of lower taxes, less government, and more economic freedom.

CSE Converges on Annapolis to Stop Big Government

On April 3rd, CSE will mobilize its members and activists in Maryland to rally at the state capitol and lobby key legislators in the General Assembly against new taxes and regulations that will harm Maryland families. Proposals are being debated in Annapolis that will raise taxes on middle-income families and restrict access to pharmaceutical drugs. The day will be filled with guest speakers including State Senator Alex Mooney and Richard Falknor from the Maryland Taxpayers Association. CSE activists volunteer their time and effort to express their viewpoints visibly and vocally, earn substantial media, and participate in the democratic process by attending rallies, conducting monthly CSE Club meetings, and visiting with policymakers. Already this year, CSE activists have staved off attempts to expand the size of government and increase taxes in Alabama, Florida, and Oregon.

Liberty Summit Brings CSE’s Best to Capitol and White House

CSE activists from ten states will travel to Washington, D.C. April 8, 9, and 10 to target 20 key Senators and visit with policymakers at the White House. CSE’s Liberty Summit will challenge key issues—tax hikes, harmful lawsuits, excessive regulation, and a slow-moving judicial confirmation process. Over three days, a selection of CSE’s best grassroots activists will meet with lawmakers, receive grassroots training and impact the policy agenda in Washington, D.C. Look for more information on this event in future updates.
