IT’S HAPPENING: FreedomWorks Responds to Eric Holder Resignation

Washington, DC- Following news that Attorney General Eric Holder will announce his resignation, FreedomWorks President Matt Kibbe and Outreach Director Deneen Borelli released the following statements:

Matt Kibbe, President of FreedomWorks on the Holder resignation:

“Americans deserve an attorney general who will treat everyone fairly and equally under the law, not a blatant partisan who selectively prosecutes some groups while giving others a pass. His successor should be driven by an impartial respect for the laws of the land, not ideology."

Deneen Borelli, FreedomWorks Outreach Director, on speculation that Holder will be working to restore trust between minorities and law enforcement in places like Ferguson:

“Before Eric Holder can have any credibility to restore trust among two groups of people, he has to earn back his trust from the American people. Between Fast and Furious, the IRS scandal, his refusal to prosecute voter intimidation, and his fanning of the flames in Ferguson, Holder was a spiteful activist AG who used his ideology to determine what laws would and wouldn’t be enforced while in office. Until he owns up to these betrayals of trust, Holder will always be the fox guarding the hen house.”
