Key Vote “NO” on Rep. Pelosi’s Proposal to Remove TPA from Columbia Free Trade Agreement

On behalf of hundreds of thousands of FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to VOTE “NO” on Rep. Nancy Pelosi's procedural vote to override Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) for the proposed Columbia Free Trade Agreement. If successful, she will circumvent the 90-day deadline Congress has to consider the agreement, effectively killing it.

In this unprecedented move, Rep. Pelosi is signaling to American businesses and workers that want to see an increase in the amount of goods exported to Columbia's growing economy that their concerns must take a back seat to her political games. Free trade is good for both producers and consumers. Free trade drives the efficiency of the global economy and creates wealth. As Congress has already voted to remove trade barriers for Colombian goods coming to the U.S., they will reap these benefits. Do we deserve any less?

The Columbia Free Trade Agreement is important policy that should be enacted into law. At the very least it deserves a straight up or down vote before the House. Don't let Rep. Pelosi keep it in exile by suspending TPA.
